TCA is a specially designed program that will maximize the potential benefits of Tai Chi. The program was created by Dr. Paul Lam, MEBS (Univ. NSW), FAMA, and a team of medical experts. Dr. Lam has been a family physician in Sydney, Australia for 25 years and is an internationally respected Tai Chi Master. He is an expert in the field of medicine and martial therapy.

The program includes warm-up exercises, a 12-movement Tai Chi form, wind- down exercises, Qigong exercises and three levels of achievement. The program has proven to be easy to learn, safe and effective. TCA is supported by the Arthritis Foundation of Australia, and has been adapted for use by the Arthritis Foundation of the United States.

Most health experts agree that in order to relieve the pain and suffering of arthritis and improve the quality of life, you must do some form of exercise. Most traditional exercises, (Weight lifting, running, etc.) are beyond the abilities of many people with arthritis.

Health experts also agree that an effective exercise program must improve muscular strength, flexibility and cardio respiratory fitness.

Studies have shown Tai Chi to be an effective and safe exercise that gently improves muscular strength, flexibility and cardio respiratory fitness. Studies have also shown that weight-bearing exercises, which use the weight of your body in movement programs like Tai Chi, can slow or even stop bone loss for women with osteoporosis.
